" The Oriental doesn’t put the same high price on life as the Westerner. Life is plentiful. Life is cheap in the Orient. And as the philosophy of the orient expresses it, life is not important. "

Anthony Hopkins gives one of his best performances (there are so many) in this film. Hopkins plays C.S. Lewis, who is known for writing the “Narnia” books for his conversion to Christianity. Shadowlands begins after Lewis’ first wife has passed away and another woman, with a son, comes into his life. Beautiful cinematography in some exquisite English countryside adds to the heartfelt emotional story. Keep your kleenex handy.
